Every year, on June 6, many villages commemorate the Allied landings (D-Day). It’s always a moment of intense emotion, remembering these fighters who came from afar to deliver the soil of France.

GUILLAUME LE CONQUERANT

The epic story of William the Conqueror, told in the Queen Matilda Tapestry, is on display in Bayeux, a UNESCO “Memory of the World” site.

Every year, on the first weekend in July, the town of Bayeux invites you to relive the era of the Dukes of Normandy with its medieval festivities.

NORMANDY’S HERITAGE

Architecture enthusiasts will be delighted to discover the wealth of Normandy’s heritage, with its many castles, farms and manor houses built of Caen stone; Le Château de Creully, de Fontaine Henry and de Balleroy, Le Manoir d’Argouges, le Prieuré de St Gabriel Brécy, l’Abbaye de Juaye-Mondaye….and all the remarkable gardens in the region! A little further afield, come and discover the city of Caen, with William the Conqueror’s feudal castle, the Abbayes aux Hommes and aux Femmes, the last vestiges of a prestigious medieval era! Bathed in sunshine and swept by the wind, a visit to Mont Saint-Michel, with its perched Abbey and impressive bay, will leave you with unforgettable memories, just 1h30’s drive from Martragny. The gardens of Giverny, made famous by the painter Claude Monet, are another must-see! You’ll be charmed by the pretty little town of Bayeux, with its medieval mansions, town houses and magnificent cathedral.
